I am spending the weekend mostly in the
Epic Duel booth at the
Screaming Tiki Comic book convention in Cleveland (if you're in the area, it's still going on today until 5, you should check it out- I might be there toward the end again, working the Epic Duel booth). I love going down Artist's Alley (I'm thinking of taking some of my work, but I'm afraid it'll look something like this.) I was talking to two of the artists behind
Fat Momma,Tony Miello and the artist sitting next to him (I will grab one of his cards today, because I apparently forgot to grab one yesterday). I don't have cable at the moment, and I had no interest in Who wants to be a superhero when it was on, but I am loving
Fat Momma. She falls into the problem I have with a lot of fat superheroes, that her powers have to do with her being fat (I tried to avoid that with Captain Thunder, which Miello liked- I only showed him a little of the Cap'm, since I figured that the exchange would have gone something like
this. I was pleasantly surprised.) I also talked to
Daniel Gorman, about getting into medical illustration. He was really nice and helpful too.
Another artist there,
Angela Oster, I had to meet her because we share a first name. She draws fetuses. I have her postcard, with Super Fetus. Bernie asked her to draw Nite Owl and Silk Spectre fetus for me. I love that man.
We have some pretty awesome photos from the con, including Darth Vader instructing little kids playing the game, our army of small children in Epic Duel t-shirts, some Sand People playing the game, and a ballerina stormtrooper playing.
That's pretty much the news for today. Except that my vintage bear I ordered off of ebay should be coming in today!
